  UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION

  VOLUNTARY LAYOFF
  

  • Voluntary Layoff is in effect for production employees desiring to take it. At present you must be displaced from your incumbent position to a Job Class 1 position to be eligible for VLO
  • S.U.B. is being paid while on VLO. Payments are automatically handled through the company Employment Office - no sign up is required
  • S&A - If you cease work because of a layoff, your sickness and accident coverage will terminate on the date you cease work.

  HEALTH CARE COVERAGE
  

  • Less than two years of continuous service on the date you cease work, your coverage will terminate at the end of the month in which you last worked.
  • Two but less than ten years of continuous service on the date you cease work, your remaining coverage will be continued during such layoff up to a maximum of six months from the end of the month in which you last worked.
  • Ten but less than 20 years of continuous service, a maximum of 12 months from the end of the month in which you last worked.
  • Twenty or more years of continuous service, coverage will be continued for two (2) years from the month in which you last worked.

  UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
  Many claim services are available through the internet. These services include opening an initial clam and filing for biweekly benefits.

  New Website Offers Union-Made Goods and Services

  The Union Label went digital today with a new web site offering shoppers an array of union-made gifts, from clothing and chocolates to computers, games and greeting cards.

  The web site www.shopunionmade.org launches on the eve of the fall and winter holidays, when shoppers will spend an estimated $1 trillion on gifts, food, drinks and other seasonal items, explained Matt Bates, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO Union Label & Service Trades Department.

  The all-union shopping site, however, will be a year-round operation because that is what consumer's demand, he added.

  The United States has lost millions of good-paying manufacturing jobs in recent years and now has begun losing large numbers of white-collar professional jobs as well. Good jobs with decent wages and benefits are essential to build a strong middle class, maintain a healthy society and sustain a growing economy.
